Mborokua (Devil's Island) Dive Site — Solomon Islands

Mborokua (Devil's Island) dive site in Solomon Islands

About Mborokua (Devil's Island)

Mborokua, known locally as Devil's Island, is a remote volcanic seamount rising from abyssal depths roughly 60km south of the main island chain. The submerged volcanic walls drop vertically, attracting some of the Solomons' most impressive shark encounters. Silvertip sharks, grey reef sharks, and scalloped hammerheads patrol the current-swept walls, while dog-tooth tuna and Spanish mackerel hunt in the blue water column. The volcanic rock is encrusted with colourful sponges and black coral bushes. Reaching Mborokua requires a dedicated boat trip and calm sea conditions, but the reward is expedition-grade shark diving in splendid isolation — often without another boat in sight.
