Mary Island Dive Site — Solomon Islands

Mary Island dive site in Solomon Islands

About Mary Island

Mary Island is the Solomon Islands' signature pelagic dive. A pristine coral wall plunges from the reef crest into the deep blue, swept by nutrient-rich currents that attract grey reef sharks, eagle rays, and massive tornado-like schools of big-eye trevally and fusiliers. Reef manta rays visit the cleaning stations along the wall during the dry season (May-October), sometimes lingering for extended passes right over divers' heads. The wall itself is carpeted with colourful soft corals, giant sea fans, and dense hard coral gardens at the top. With virtually no other divers and zero fishing pressure, Mary Island delivers a truly wild, frontier diving experience that recalls what coral reefs looked like before human impact.
