About Batu Bolong

Arguably Komodo's most famous dive site — a small rock pinnacle exploding with life. Strong currents bring nutrient-rich water, supporting massive schools of fish, reef sharks, and giant trevally. The entire pinnacle is encrusted in colorful soft corals from 3m to 70m depth, making it one of the most densely populated reefs in the world.

• Current: Batu Bolong is known for its strong, complex currents due to its location in the Lintah Strait, often earning it the nickname "Current City." Dives are strictly conducted on the lee side of the pinnacle during slack or gentle tidal exchanges to avoid dangerous conditions, including potential downcurrents and powerful whirlpools visible from the surface. Divers must stay behind their guide, maintain strong buoyancy, and be prepared for drift diving.
