Banana Reef Dive Site — Maldives
About Banana Reef
Discovered in 1972 and one of the first dive sites ever explored in the Maldives, Banana Reef gets its name from its curved, banana-like shape. The reef features dramatic cliffs, overhangs, and swim-throughs populated by giant moray eels, anemonefish in colourful anemones, and whitetip reef sharks resting on sandy ledges. Hawksbill turtles are regular visitors, and the shallow reef top is a kaleidoscope of hard corals teeming with butterflyfish and angelfish.
