Custom House Reef Dive Site — Solomon Islands
About Custom House Reef
The house reef at Custom House, near Uepi Island, is one of the Solomons' finest muck and macro diving sites. In just 3-15m of water, a gently sloping reef of mixed coral rubble and sand hosts an extraordinary density of small creatures. Pygmy seahorses hide on gorgonian fans, ornate ghost pipefish drift among crinoid arms, and ribbon eels peek from their burrows. The star attraction is the dusk dive: as the light fades, mandarin fish emerge from the rubble to perform their elaborate courtship dance — the males flaring their psychedelic fins to attract mates. The calm, sheltered conditions make this an ideal night dive site as well, with Spanish dancer nudibranchs and bobbit worms appearing after dark.
