Nosy Fanihy Dive Site — Madagascar
About Nosy Fanihy
Known as "Bat Island" for its resident fruit bat colony, Nosy Fanihy north of Nosy Be offers dramatic underwater walls covered in dense dendronephthya soft corals in every shade of pink, orange and red. Green turtles nest on the island's beaches and are frequently encountered resting on coral ledges. At dawn, schools of bumphead parrotfish — sometimes 30 or more — arrive at the reef to feed, crunching through coral with their massive beak-like teeth. Eagle rays and reef sharks patrol the deeper walls.
