Sainte Marie Whale Point Dive Site — Madagascar

Sainte Marie Whale Point dive site in Madagascar

About Sainte Marie Whale Point

The western coast of Île Sainte-Marie becomes one of the world's premier humpback whale encounter sites from July to September. Mothers and newborn calves rest in the warm, shallow waters while males perform spectacular breaching displays. Underwater encounters at this site range from hearing the haunting whale song to close-range visual contact with curious juveniles in 15–25m visibility. Outside whale season, the reef features healthy coral coverage with abundant invertebrate life, nudibranchs and cleaner shrimp stations.
