Cathedral is a renowned reef dive site situated in Belize's Lighthouse Reef, an atoll located approximately 70 kilometers from Belize City. This vibrant location is celebrated for its unique topographical features, resembling towering spires and formations that evoke the grandeur of a subterranean cathedral, providing a rich, diverse environment for marine life and divers alike. It is recognized as a popular spot, frequently visited for its exceptional beauty and ecological variety. The site features a deeply segmented structure, commencing with a wall that crests at a shallow 9 meters, allowing divers to explore lush coral gardens. From this point, the reef slopes deeper, revealing tunnels, crevices, and walls where marine creatures find shelter. The formations are adorned with various sponges and coral types, including deep-water gorgonians, elephant ear sponges, yellow tube sponges, and azure vase sponges, creating an incredibly colorful underwater landscape.
