About Moc-Che Deep
Moc-Che Deep is the deeper section of the Moc-Che Reefs, situated north of Playa del Carmen. This wall dive extends between 20 and 30 meters, reaching a maximum depth of 30 meters, making it suitable for Advanced Open Water divers. The dive duration is typically shorter than the shallow reef, lasting 30-40 minutes. The wall is richly adorned with corals, sponges, and sea fans, showcasing the vibrant flora and fauna typical of the Caribbean. Divers can observe a variety of marine life along the wall, which is part of a larger reef system. Like its shallow counterpart, this site is part of a relatively extensive reef, offering significant exploration opportunities. While specific marine life highlights are not detailed for this section, it is expected to host similar Caribbean species found on other local reefs. The site offers a drift dive experience, allowing divers to take in the scenery as they move along the wall.

Conditions & Currents
Moderate currents can run here, so plan drift entries and stay close to the group. Dive profiles here run between roughly 27 and 30 metres, so plan your gas and no-decompression limits around the deeper part of the site. It is usually briefed as a dive for intermediate divers. It can be dived from a liveaboard or a day boat, depending on where you start the trip. Tide, wind and season all shift the picture from day to day, so the crew's briefing on the boat always overrides any general description.
Why dive Moc-Che Deep from a liveaboard?
Moc-Che Deep is one of Mexico's signature dive sites. A liveaboard sleeps you on the water and puts you in the water for three to four guided dives per day, including dawn and night dives that day-boat operators rarely offer. You skip the daily commute back to port and reach quieter, less-crowded sites in the same region on a single trip.
