About Casa Blanca
Casa Blanca is a vibrant reef dive located in Cozumel, Mexico, specifically found along the island's west coast in the Yucatán Peninsula. It draws its name from a former white beachfront house, Casa Gordon. This site is renowned for its constant south-to-north current, which facilitates a relaxed drift dive experience, similar to the nearby Paso del Cedral. It's a favorite among divers who frequently visit Cozumel, offering a consistently lively underwater environment. The dive begins at a shallow depth of approximately 12 meters (40 feet), then gently slopes to around 30 meters (100 feet). The topography includes a rich coral reef structure shaped by the prevailing currents, featuring diverse hard and soft corals. Divers can effortlessly glide over the reef, allowing ample time to observe the abundant marine life that makes this site so dynamic. Marine life sightings are common and diverse, including green moray eels, various types of turtles (hawksbill, green, and loggerhead), queen angelfish, drumfish, rockfish, barracuda, and nurse sharks. Occasionally, southern stingrays and eagle rays are also seen traversing the sandy areas or in the mid-water column. The consistent current helps to keep the reef healthy and thriving, contributing to the high density of marine organisms. Typically experienced as a drift dive, Casa Blanca offers an easy and enjoyable experience even for beginners due to the helping current. Dives here often involve being carried along long distances with minimal effort, making it a comfortable and engaging site for exploring the rich biodiversity of Cozumel's reefs. It's frequently part of multi-dive excursions due to its accessible nature and prolific marine encounters.

Conditions & Currents
Casa Blanca is characterized by a constant current that flows from south to north along Cozumel's west coast, making it an ideal drift dive site. The current strength is typically consistent enough to carry divers along without significant effort, contributing to a relaxed diving experience. Visibility at the site is generally very good, often exceeding 30 meters (100 feet), providing clear views of the expansive reef. Entry is typically a boat entry, followed by a live boat pickup, allowing divers to simply float with the current. This makes the site accessible and enjoyable for a wide range of certification levels, including beginners. Divers should be comfortable with drift diving techniques, but the overall experience is considered easy due to the predictable current flow.
Why dive Casa Blanca from a liveaboard?
Casa Blanca is one of Mexico's signature dive sites. A liveaboard sleeps you on the water and puts you in the water for three to four guided dives per day, including dawn and night dives that day-boat operators rarely offer. You skip the daily commute back to port and reach quieter, less-crowded sites in the same region on a single trip.
Below are the liveaboards that include Casa Blanca on their Mexico itineraries.
