Sundeck
Universal across the entire industry — every liveaboard has an open-air sundeck for surface intervals, sunset viewing and sleeping under the stars. Quality varies enormously: budget boats offer plastic sun loungers; premium boats offer cushioned daybeds with shade canopies, integrated sound systems, and hot beverage stations.
Hot tub / Jacuzzi
Common on premium and luxury operators. Found on most luxury Maldives boats, mid-to-high Egyptian operators, all luxury Indonesia operators, and the major expedition operators (Galápagos, Cocos, Socorro). Heated to 38–40°C, used most often by divers warming up after long cold-water dives in temperate destinations. Capacity typically 4–8 people.
Steam room / sauna
Less common but available on a few luxury operators (some Aggressor and Emperor vessels in Egypt, some Maldives premium operators). Uses minimal water and adds significant guest comfort.
Massage and spa services
Many premium operators have a dedicated massage therapist on board, offering treatments at $50–$150 per hour. Massage is particularly welcome after long diving days. Camera room / processing area
Standard on photography-focused boats. Dedicated air-conditioned room with high-speed Wi-Fi, multiple voltage outlets, large workspace tables, and storage for sensitive electronics.

Operators in the under-$200/night range strip amenities to focus on diving. Expect a basic sundeck, indoor lounge, and dive deck. No hot tub, no spa, simpler furniture. The diving on these boats can be world-class — they spend the budget on the engine, the dive deck and the dive guides rather than the hot tub.
