Our partnership

Working together
for healthier reefs

Together with Green Fins we protect coral reefs through sustainable tourism. Blue Rides supports healthier oceans for today and for future generations of divers.

BlueRides is a proud supporter of Green Fins. We financially support the initiative so that more operators can be trained, assessed and certified – and so that environmental standards become the norm in dive tourism, not the exception.

Green Fins is the only internationally recognised environmental standard for dive and snorkel operators. The initiative helps dive centres, snorkelling centres and liveaboards reduce their impact on the marine environment by following a strict code of conduct – from anchoring and waste management to how guests interact with marine life.

How our partnership makes an impact

From ocean adventures to healthier reefs

A shared love of the ocean becomes practical, positive change.

You explore the ocean

Discover extraordinary reefs and marine life on your next dive adventure.

Every dive trip starts with wonder: colourful reefs, curious turtles, schools of fish in crystal-clear water. But these ecosystems are fragile – a single careless fin kick or anchor can destroy coral that took decades to grow. That is why how we dive matters just as much as where we dive. When you choose operators who follow environmental standards, your adventure actively protects the places you came to see. Your booking is the first step in a chain that keeps reefs alive.

We support Green Fins

Blue Rides financially supports environmental training, assessments and practical resources.

For every booking, Blue Rides donates to Green Fins – the only internationally recognised environmental standard for dive and snorkel tourism. Our contribution funds the things that make real change possible: training courses for dive guides, on-site environmental assessments, and practical materials for operators and guests. Green Fins is coordinated by The Reef-World Foundation in partnership with the UN Environment Programme, so every euro goes into a proven, science-based programme. We do this because our business depends on healthy reefs – and because it is simply the right thing to do.

Operators reduce their impact

Green Fins helps dive and snorkel operators put environmental standards into practice.

Green Fins members commit to a strict code of conduct covering everything from buoyancy control and anchoring to waste management and wildlife interaction. Trained assessors visit members regularly, score their environmental performance and agree on concrete, step-by-step improvement plans. The result is measurable: member operators improve their sustainability score by around 20% on average. Dive professionals also complete free online environmental training used by thousands of guides worldwide. Step by step, good intentions become daily practice on the boats you travel with.

Together we protect marine life

Less local pressure gives reefs and the communities that depend on them a healthier future.

Coral reefs are home to a quarter of all marine species and support the livelihoods of around half a billion people. When local pressure from tourism is reduced, reefs get the breathing space they need to recover and stay resilient. Healthier reefs mean more fish, better diving and a more secure future for coastal communities. No single diver, operator or booking platform can achieve this alone – but together, the chain works. Your adventure, our support and the operators' daily practice add up to protection that lasts.

What Green Fins actually does

Real change through practical solutions

Environmental code of conduct

A proven set of environmental standards that dive and snorkel operators commit to – covering everything from buoyancy and anchoring to chemical use and wildlife interaction.

The Green Fins Code of Conduct turns reef protection into clear, everyday rules for dive and snorkel operations. It covers the full dive experience: perfect buoyancy so fins never touch coral, responsible anchoring and mooring, no feeding or touching of marine life, and careful waste and chemical management on board. The code was developed with the UN Environment Programme and is based on decades of marine science. Operators sign up to it publicly, so guests can hold them to it. It is the foundation everything else in the programme builds on.

Assessments & training

Members are assessed regularly and receive practical, step-by-step improvement plans. Dive professionals can complete online environmental training used by thousands of guides worldwide.

Trained Green Fins assessors visit member operators and score their environmental performance against the code of conduct. After each assessment, the operator receives a confidential report with a prioritised, realistic improvement plan for the coming year. Progress is tracked over time, so improvement is measurable rather than a matter of good intentions. Alongside this, the free Green Fins Dive Guide e-course trains dive professionals in environmentally friendly guiding and is used by thousands of guides worldwide. This combination of feedback and training is what makes the programme so effective.

Global community

Dive centres, snorkelling centres and liveaboards share a commitment to more sustainable marine tourism.

More than 1,000 dive and snorkel operators have joined Green Fins since 2014, across dozens of countries and all major dive destinations. Members range from small local dive centres to large liveaboard fleets – all committed to the same environmental standard. The community shares experiences, improvement ideas and success stories, so good practice spreads quickly. Being part of this network also signals to guests that an operator takes reef protection seriously. Every new member strengthens the global movement for sustainable marine tourism.

Free materials for everyone

Posters, guidelines and best-practice materials – free for operators, crews and guests, in many languages, so the message reaches people right where they dive.

Green Fins produces a large library of practical materials: posters for dive boats and centres, environmental briefing guidelines, best-practice icons and guest-facing explanations. Everything is free to download and available in many languages, so crews and guests around the world can understand it. The materials are designed for real life on the water – short, visual and easy to apply during a dive briefing. Operators use them to train staff and to explain the rules to guests before they enter the water. Good communication is often the cheapest and most effective conservation tool there is.
