About this route

A high-energy southern Red Sea safari that combines the offshore giants of Daedalus and Elphinstone with the remote southern marine parks of Rocky Island, Zabargad and Saint John's. Expect schooling hammerheads on the northern plateaus, oceanic whitetips patrolling the walls, healthy hard coral reefs and a kaleidoscope of caves and swim-throughs. A true blue-water adventure for experienced divers chasing big pelagics and untouched reefscapes.

Day-by-day plan

  1. Day 1: Embarkation in Port Ghalib

    Port Ghalib, Egypt

    Board the vessel in the afternoon at Port Ghalib. Guests will be greeted by the crew, check into their cabins, and receive a comprehensive welcome briefing about the boat, safety procedures, and the exciting week of diving ahead. The boat will then depart and sail south overnight.

  2. Day 2: Daedalus Reef — Pelagic Encounters

    Daedalus Reef, Red Sea Marine Parks

    The first full day is spent at the legendary Daedalus Reef, an isolated offshore pinnacle famous for its strong currents and thrilling pelagic encounters. Dives will focus on the steep walls, where divers scan the blue for schooling hammerhead sharks, oceanic whitetips, and occasional thresher sharks. The reef top is a pristine hard coral garden, offering a beautiful contrast.

  3. Day 3: Rocky Island — Sheer Walls & Sharks

    Rocky Island, Red Sea Marine Parks

    After a shorter cruise further south, the day is dedicated to exploring Rocky Island. Known for its sheer drop-offs plunging into the deep, this site offers some of the most dramatic wall diving in the Red Sea. Currents attract a variety of shark species, including grey reef sharks and whitetips, while the walls are adorned with vibrant soft corals, gorgonians, and black coral trees.

  4. Day 4: Zabargad Island — Wrecks & Turquoise Bays

    Zabargad Island, Red Sea Marine Parks

    Today's dives are around the larger island of Zabargad, which offers more protected diving conditions and diverse topography. The area features shallow wrecks, interesting swim-throughs, and gentle coral slopes. Divers can explore a Russian wreck or drift along sloping gardens teeming with reef fish. The island's turquoise bays provide a calm anchorage for the night.

  5. Day 5: St. John's Reef System — Southern Pinnacles

    St. John's, Southern Red Sea

    The journey continues to the vast St. John's reef system. Dives will focus on the southern sites like Habili Ali and Gota Kebir, renowned for their stunning underwater landscapes. Expect towering pinnacles covered in soft corals, encounters with grey reef and hammerhead sharks in the blue, and an immense profusion of colorful reef fish along the walls.

  6. Day 6: St. John's Caves & Northern Reefs

    St. John's, Southern Red Sea

    The day is spent exploring the unique topography of the northern St. John's area. This may include a visit to St. John's Caves (Umm Hararim), a shallow reef system riddled with swim-throughs and tunnels illuminated by shafts of sunlight. Other dives will explore a labyrinth of pinnacles and coral gardens characteristic of this vast reef complex.

  7. Day 7: Final Dives & Return Journey

    Fury Shoals, Red Sea

    The final day of diving consists of two morning dives, often in the northern part of the St. John's system or the famous Fury Shoals. Sites may include lively coral gardens or reefs known for dolphin encounters. After the second dive, the boat starts the journey back to Port Ghalib, allowing plenty of time to rinse gear and pack before a final farewell dinner.

  8. Day 8: Disembarkation in Port Ghalib

    Port Ghalib, Egypt

    After a final breakfast on board, it is time to say goodbye to the crew and fellow divers. Guests will disembark in Port Ghalib for their onward transfers.
