Day-by-day plan

  1. Day 1: Embarkation – Port Ghalib

Upon arrival at the airport, guests will be transferred by bus to the marina in Port Ghalib. After checking in and settling into cabins, there will be time to explore the boat and prepare for the week ahead.

  2. Day 2: Departure – Towards Daedalus Reef

The day begins with a comprehensive welcome briefing covering the week's itinerary, safety procedures, and an essential check of all diving documents and insurance. After departing the marina, the captain will navigate to the first dive site, approximately 30 minutes away, for a check-dive. A second dive is planned for the afternoon, followed by dinner as the boat commences a 7-hour overnight journey towards Daedalus Reef.

  3. Day 3: Daedalus Reef – Hammerheads and Lighthouse

Diving commences at sunrise on the Daedalus falls, known for its extensive reef system. The guide will suggest three dives, with opportunities to explore the northern part for potential hammerhead shark sightings and the western slope for its impressive coral diversity and optimal lighting. Between dives, guests can visit the iconic Daedalus lighthouse. Following an evening dive, the boat will continue its journey south overnight, heading towards Rocky Island and Zabargad.

  4. Day 4: Rocky & Zabargad – Island Explorations

Three dives are scheduled around the pristine Rocky and Zabargad islands. The navigation time between these sites typically ranges from 30 to 45 minutes, allowing ample time for exploration. Dive sites are meticulously selected by the guide, considering weather conditions and the presence of other boats, ensuring a serene and optimal diving experience in these remote areas.

  5. Day 5: Saint John's – Vibrant Reef Systems

The morning will see the captain and crew escorting guests to the renowned Saint John's sites. Three dives are planned for the day, with navigation between locations varying from 30 minutes to 1 hour and 30 minutes. Dive sites within the Saint John's area are carefully chosen by the guide, taking into account current weather conditions and the number of other vessels, to ensure the best possible diving experience.

  6. Day 6: Northern Ascent – Sataya & Sheleneyat

Today marks the beginning of the journey north. The boat will make a stop at Sataya, also known as 'Dolphin House,' located in the Fury Shoals area, offering a unique opportunity for guests to swim with dolphins. The ascent continues to the Sheleneyat site in the Wadi Gemal area, where the third dive of the day will be a dusk or night dive, offering a different perspective of the reef's nocturnal inhabitants.

  7. Day 7: Elphinstone Reef – Iconic Walls

The early morning brings the boat to the Marsa Alam area, home to the legendary Elphinstone Reef. Two dives are scheduled here, renowned for its dramatic walls and potential for pelagic encounters. Following the dives, a two-hour sail returns the boat to Port Ghalib marina by early afternoon. Guests can then use the platform to rinse their equipment, and the guide will suggest additional diving activities to occupy the afternoon.

  8. Day 8: Disembarkation – Port Ghalib

After breakfast, guests will disembark from the boat. Transfers to the airport or hotel will be arranged according to flight schedules. The last dive of the trip took place on the penultimate day, and divers are advised to observe a 24-hour no-fly period after their final dive.
