Today marks the commencement of your Red Sea adventure. Guests will embark the Vita Xplorer in Port Ghalib from 5pm, settle into their cabins, and enjoy a welcome briefing. The evening provides an opportunity to relax onboard and prepare for the exciting dives ahead.
The journey begins with an exploration of Daedalus Reef, a remote and significant offshore reef known for its Lighthouse. This area is famous for its vibrant currents, often bringing pelagic species close to the reef. Divers can expect a stunning wall dive featuring colorful corals and a diversity of marine life, with opportunities to spot various shark species and large schools of fish.
Continuing at Daedalus Reef, today's dives will focus on different sections of its extensive walls and plateaus. The area is renowned for its expansive coral gardens, which are home to a myriad of reef fish. Visibility is typically excellent here, enhancing the chances of spotting resident reef sharks, schools of barracuda, and potentially other pelagic species attracted by the currents.
Today's diving takes place around Zabargad Island and the nearby Rocky Island, a tiny but incredibly diverse diving destination. Rocky Island features a convenient surrounding plateau that offers excellent views, especially during safety stops. Currents here can be dynamic, shifting from northeast to south, and dive planning will carefully consider these conditions to maximize encounters with the abundant marine life.
Continuing the exploration of Zabargad, divers will experience a large, shallow reef with impressive drop-offs reaching 40 meters. The area is known for its incredible biodiversity, often frequented by manta rays and large schools of tuna. Divers may also encounter Napoleon wrasse and various shark species, making for truly exciting underwater experiences.
The itinerary moves to the world-renowned Elphinstone Reef, celebrated for its spectacular north and south plateaus. This site offers thrilling drift dives along its walls, which are adorned with abundant soft corals and diverse reef fish. Pelagic life, including sharks and large schools of barracuda, are commonly sighted here, particularly around the deeper sections and natural arch formations.
A final day of diving at Elphinstone Reef focuses on its dynamic marine ecosystems. Divers can re-explore different sections of the reef, known for its deep walls and vibrant coral growth. The area often features excellent visibility and strong currents, providing opportunities for exhilarating drift dives and encounters with a variety of marine life, from small reef inhabitants to larger pelagics.
After a hearty breakfast, guests will disembark the Vita Xplorer by 10am in Port Ghalib, concluding an unforgettable Red Sea diving adventure.
