About Raja Ampat Aggressor

Navigating the rich biodiversity of Raja Ampat, the Raja Ampat Aggressor offers a focused dive experience for up to 16 guests.

Off the northwestern tip of New Guinea's Bird's Head Peninsula lies a sprawling territory of more than 1,500 small, jungle-covered islands. This is Raja Ampat. Below the surface, this complex geography creates a maze of nutrient-rich channels, sheltered bays, and current-swept sea mounts. The convergence of Pacific and Indian Ocean waters fuels one of the world's most concentrated marine ecosystems, supporting over 600 species of hard coral and more than 1,700 species of fish. Divers can observe everything from tiny pygmy seahorses camouflaged on seafans to squadrons of oceanic manta rays at cleaning stations. The Raja Ampat Aggressor is a purpose-built vessel designed to navigate this intricate environment, providing a stable platform for dive exploration. All diving is conducted from two fast and spacious Zodiac tenders, each powered by a 40 hp Yamaha engine, ensuring divers are dropped precisely on the mark with minimal transit time. The main vessel's dive deck is organized for efficiency, with individual gear stations and ample storage. For underwater photographers, dedicated camera tables with charging points and rinse tanks are provided to care for sensitive equipment. A comprehensive inventory of rental gear is available onboard. Each submersion is led by experienced local guides who are experts in reading the region’s variable currents and locating its most sought-after inhabitants. Multiple dives are offered daily, including dusk and night dives to witness the full spectrum of marine activity. Life aboard centers on comfort and relaxation between dives. The vessel accommodates a maximum of 16 guests in eight staterooms, creating an intimate and focused atmosphere. The cabins, which include both Deluxe and Master configurations, are all equipped with private en-suite bathrooms, individual climate controls, and personal entertainment systems. Socializing takes place in the air-conditioned interior salon, a common area for briefings and sharing photos, or on the upper-level sundeck, which offers open-air seating. This outdoor space provides wide views of the passing island scenery and serves as a quiet place to unwind. The onboard chef prepares a varied menu that combines Western flavors with Indonesian specialties, using fresh, locally sourced ingredients whenever possible. Meals are served in the main dining salon, with some offerings presented in an alfresco setting on the upper deck. The culinary team is adept at handling a wide range of dietary requirements, which can be accommodated with advance notification. A selection of soft drinks, juices, and local beer is available throughout the day. The ship’s bar also offers a selection of wine and spirits for purchase, perfect for a post-dive refreshment while watching the sunset. Built in 2009, the Raja Ampat Aggressor is a 29.9-meter motor yacht with a wide 7.9-meter beam that contributes to its overall stability. The vessel’s design prioritizes reliability and comfort during navigation through the archipelago’s remote waters. Power is supplied by a robust system of three 420Hp diesel engines turning triple propellers. This configuration provides significant power and redundancy, allowing for a cruising speed of 10 knots and ensuring safe, comfortable passages across the open-water crossings that connect Raja Ampat’s distinct dive regions, such as the journey to Misool. The Raja Ampat Aggressor operates itineraries that focus on the most biodiverse areas of the region. Most trips are round-trip voyages departing from and returning to the port of Sorong, primarily running between October and April to align with the optimal diving season. These routes are designed to showcase the area's variety, from the fish-filled channels of the Dampier Strait to the soft coral gardens and dramatic topography of the southern Misool island group. This liveaboard is well-suited for the dedicated diver and underwater photographer who values a well-run, efficient operation focused on maximizing time in the water and accessing Raja Ampat’s most celebrated sites.
