About Emperor Harmoni

Navigating the rich biodiversity of Raja Ampat, the 47.9-meter Emperor Harmoni provides expeditions for 24 guests in 12 cabins, built in 2019.

The geography of Raja Ampat, a sprawling cluster of more than 1,500 jungle-clad islands and limestone karsts, creates a labyrinth of interconnected marine environments. This complex topography gives rise to an immense variety of underwater habitats, from current-swept seamounts and vibrant coral gardens to placid mangrove forests that act as vital nurseries. The convergence of major ocean currents fuels this rich system, supporting a density of coral and fish species that is among the highest on the planet. The Emperor Harmoni is built specifically to navigate this intricate region, providing a stable and spacious platform for comprehensive underwater exploration. Diving operations are efficiently managed to maximize time in the water. Three 5-meter rigid inflatable boats, each powered by a 50 HP outboard, transport small groups of divers directly to the action. These tenders are equipped with sturdy ladders for easy re-entry after each dive. Back on the main vessel, a large, well-organized dive deck provides individual stations for gear preparation and storage, along with freshwater rinse tanks for equipment. For underwater photographers, a dedicated camera room offers private stations with ample power points for charging batteries and servicing imaging equipment. All dives are led by experienced guides with deep knowledge of the area’s currents, topography, and marine life. Life aboard is designed for comfort and relaxation between dives. The vessel accommodates up to 24 guests in 12 air-conditioned cabins, each featuring a private ensuite bathroom. Staterooms are arranged across two decks to suit different preferences, with lower deck cabins offering twin or double bed layouts. On the upper deck, guests can choose from double bed cabins or adaptable rooms that can be set up as either twin or double. Indoor social life centers around the main air-conditioned salon, a comfortable space for dining and evening briefings. Outside, the ship offers multiple areas for repose, including a large, partially shaded sundeck furnished with loungers for enjoying the sea breeze. The culinary program onboard is focused on fresh, flavorful meals to fuel active days of exploration. A professional chef and galley team prepare a varied menu that highlights both international dishes and local Indonesian specialties. Meals are generally served buffet-style in the main salon, creating a casual and social dining atmosphere where guests can share stories from the day's dives. The crew is able to accommodate most special dietary requirements with advance notification. Throughout the day, complimentary snacks, coffee, tea, and soft drinks are readily available. A selection of beer and wine can also be purchased to enjoy with dinner or while watching the sunset. Emperor Harmoni is a modern phinisi-style vessel, constructed from wood in 2019. Measuring 47.9 meters in length with a wide 9.4-meter beam, its design provides exceptional space and stability. The ship is powered by twin Yanmar 400 HP marine diesel engines, ensuring reliable propulsion for navigating the archipelago's extensive routes. The vessel's significant size and traditional wooden build contribute to a smoother ride, offering a comfortable experience even during open-water crossings between distant island groups. With a guest capacity of just 24, the ship's generous dimensions ensure that all communal areas and decks remain uncrowded throughout the journey. The vessel's schedule is dedicated to Raja Ampat, with itineraries that explore the distinct ecosystems of both the northern and southern sections of the marine park. These trips are timed to coincide with the region's primary diving season, generally running from autumn through spring to take advantage of favorable surface and underwater conditions. All voyages start and end in Sorong, West Papua, the primary logistical hub for the area. Emperor Harmoni is an excellent choice for divers of all certification levels who value a comfortable liveaboard experience, a well-run dive operation, and thorough access to the region’s world-class sites. Its dedicated camera facilities also make it highly suitable for underwater photographers.
