About this route

This southern Red Sea safari explores a variety of underwater environments, from sheer walls and coral gardens to intricate cave systems. The itinerary focuses on the premier dive areas of St. John's, Fury Shoal, and the famous Elphinstone reef. Divers have excellent opportunities to encounter large pelagic species such as hammerhead sharks, grey reef sharks, and dolphins, along with unique local marine life like the humphead parrotfish. Day-by-day plan

  1. Day 1: Arrival in Port Ghalib

    Port Ghaleb

    Guests arrive and check in aboard the vessel after 5:00 PM at the marina in Port Ghaleb. After settling in, dinner is served, and the first night is spent on the boat before the journey begins the following day.

  2. Day 2: Marsa Alam Coast

    Marsa Alam coast

    The boat departs in the morning to the Marsa Alam coast for two initial check dives. A night dive may also be offered in this area. Later, the vessel begins its overnight sailing south towards the St. John's reef system.

  3. Day 3: St. John Reefs

    St. John reefs

    The next few days are dedicated to exploring the acclaimed St. John's reefs, with three to four dives scheduled per day. This area is a collection of smaller reefs offering some of the Red Sea's best diving, with potential sites including the intricate St. John's caves and the vibrant walls of Habilli Ali.

  4. Day 4: St. John Reefs

    St. John reefs

    Diving continues at St. John's, an area renowned for its impressive marine biodiversity. Divers can admire vast forests of fan corals and black corals. The open water around these reefs provides chances to spot grey reef sharks, silver-tips, and large schools of hammerhead sharks, as well as the unique humphead parrotfish.

  5. Day 5: St. John Reefs

    St. John reefs

    After a final day of diving at the St. John's sites, the boat begins its journey north. The vessel will sail towards the Fury Shoal area, eventually mooring for the night in Wadi Gamal to prepare for the next day's dives.

  6. Day 6: Fury Shoal

    Fury Shoal

    The day is spent diving in the Fury Shoal reef system. This area includes diverse sites such as Malahi and Shab Claudio, along with Sataya, also known as Dolphin Reef, which offers a high chance of swimming with playful spinner dolphins. Afterwards, the boat continues its voyage back towards Port Ghaleb.

  7. Day 7: Elphinstone

    Elphinstone

    The final two submersions are at the renowned Elphinstone reef. This isolated oceanic formation boasts vertical walls adorned with vibrant soft corals. It is a prime location for spotting large pelagic species, including hammerhead and grey reef sharks. After the dives, the vessel navigates back to Port Ghaleb, where guests spend the concluding night on the liveaboard.

  8. Day 8: Departure

    Port Ghalib

    After a final breakfast on the liveaboard, guests will check out. Transfers are then provided to the airport for departure.
