Embark on an extraordinary 10-night journey through the biodiverse waters of Raja Ampat and the historic Banda Sea. This expedition offers a unique blend of vibrant coral reefs, schooling pelagics, and rare critter encounters across two of Indonesia's most renowned diving destinations. From the unparalleled marine life of Misool and Dampier Strait to the rich historical waters of the Banda Islands, guests will experience a diverse array of underwater landscapes and cultural highlights. The itinerary promises thrilling drifts, stunning reef dives, and opportunities to explore both macro and wide-angle photography subjects.
Guests will meet at Waisai Harbour around 11:30 am for embarkation. After settling into cabins and a welcome briefing, there will be time to set up dive gear. Depending on arrival times, a check dive might be conducted in the afternoon to allow divers to familiarize themselves with the equipment and conditions.
Today's diving focuses on Dampier Strait, an area renowned for its strong currents and rich marine biodiversity. The currents here bring a constant supply of nutrients, attracting large schools of fish and various pelagic species. Divers can expect vibrant soft corals, immense fish aggregations, and potentially encounters with reef sharks and mantas. A sunset beach visit to Miokon adds a topside highlight.
The expedition continues to North Misool, an area celebrated for its pristine coral gardens and abundant macro life. Divers can explore a variety of sites featuring dramatic topography, including soft coral walls and pinnacles teeming with small critters and colorful reef fish. The healthy ecosystem supports a wide range of species, making it ideal for macro photography.
Today is dedicated to exploring the iconic dive sites within Misool, an area world-renowned for its extensive soft coral coverage and dramatic limestone karsts. Sites like Shadow Reef and Nudi Rock offer spectacular underwater landscapes, including colorful reefs, caves, and overhangs. The area is known for its incredible density of fish life and the chance to spot various reef sharks and other pelagics.

Diving today will take place around Pulau Koon and Mandorang. These transitional areas offer a mix of reef formations and diverse marine life as the vessel makes its way towards the Banda Sea. Expect vibrant coral reefs and a chance to encounter both schooling fish and smaller, more unique species. An overnight crossing to Banda follows the day's dives.
Today's dives explore the waters around the historic Banda Islands, an area famous for its volcanic activity and rich history in the spice trade. The underwater landscape is characterized by dramatic drop-offs, pinnacles, and healthy coral reefs. Divers may encounter schooling fish, pelagic species, and unique volcanic formations.

Diving continues in the Banda area, with a highlight being a special Mandarin fish dive. These elusive and vibrantly colored fish are typically seen during dusk as they perform their mating ritual. The day will also include other dives exploring the diverse reefs, offering chances to see schooling fish and possibly larger pelagic species that patrol these nutrient-rich waters.

The final day of diving around the Banda area will offer more opportunities for oceanic encounters. Depending on local conditions, sites known for pelagic sightings will be prioritized, providing chances to see various sharks, rays, and large schooling fish. Following the day's dives, an overnight crossing to Suanggi will commence, heading towards the next dive destination.

Today's dives are planned around Suanggi, a more remote and less frequently visited area. These pristine reefs often feature untouched coral formations and a healthy population of reef fish and invertebrates. The last day of diving brings the expedition to Nusa Laut, an island known for its beautiful reefs and clear waters. Divers will enjoy final opportunities to explore vibrant coral gardens and encounter diverse marine life before the vessel begins its journey back to Ambon. This area often provides excellent visibility and a relaxing end to the diving portion of the trip.
Guests will enjoy breakfast on board before departing the Jaya at approximately 08:30 am in Tulehu Harbour, Ambon. Transfer arrangements will be made for onward travel.
