About this route

This itinerary covers some of the top sites in North and South Raja Ampat, including several days diving around Misool, and involves some periods of overnight cruising. Various factors, including weather and sea conditions, determine the route the vessel follows, the dive sites visited, and the duration of stay in each area.

Day-by-day plan

  1. Day 1: Embarkation in Sorong

    Sorong

    Upon arrival at Sorong's Domine Eduard Osok Airport (SOQ), you will be transferred to the harbor to board the vessel. After a welcome briefing from the crew and setting up your dive gear, the boat will set sail towards the Dampier Strait.

  2. Day 2: Dampier Strait Discovery

    Dampier Strait

    The diving begins with a check dive to ensure weighting and equipment are comfortable. The day's subsequent dives will explore sites renowned for their schooling fish and vibrant coral coverage, offering a first glimpse into Raja Ampat's bustling underwater ecosystems.

  3. Day 3: Big Fish & Biodiversity

    Dampier Strait

    Today is dedicated to some of the world's most biodiverse dive sites. Experience the thrill of diving at Cape Kri, which holds a record for fish species on a single dive, and navigate the currents at Blue Magic, a seamount that attracts large pelagic species.

  4. Day 4: Mantas and Penemu's Viewpoint

    Penemu Island

    The day starts with a visit to a manta ray cleaning station for potential encounters with graceful reef mantas. After diving the kaleidoscopic hard corals of Melissa's Garden, there's an afternoon land excursion to hike to the iconic Piaynemo viewpoint.

    Dive sites: Manta Sandy, Melissa's Garden, Keruo Channel

  5. Day 5: Across the Equator to Kawe

    Kawe Island

    The vessel travels north, crossing the equator to reach the island of Kawe. Dives here are often action-packed, with sites like Eagle Rock and Black Rock exposed to oceanic currents that attract schools of fusiliers, jacks, and patrolling sharks.

  6. Day 6: Iconic Wayag

    Wayag Islands

    Explore the breathtakingly beautiful Wayag Islands, both above and below the water. Dives will take place around the sheltered lagoons before the highlight land excursion: a climb up Mount Pindito for the world-famous panoramic view of the karst pinnacles.

    Dive sites: Wayag Lagoon, Pelagic Rock

    Good to know: Includes the signature hike to the Wayag viewpoint.

  7. Day 7: Macro Life of Aljui Bay

    Aljui Bay

    Attention shifts from wide-angle to macro as divers explore the sheltered waters of Aljui Bay. The pier of a local pearl farm provides an excellent muck diving opportunity to search for critters, followed by a fantastic night dive.

    Dive sites: Cendana Pearl Farm Jetty, White Arrow

  8. Day 8: The Passage & Arborek Village

    Dampier Strait

    The journey heads south back into the Dampier Strait to dive a truly unique site. 'The Passage' is a river-like channel between islands, offering a drift dive with stunning underwater scenery, followed by a dive under the jetty at Arborek village.

  9. Day 9: Batanta's Black Sand

    Batanta Island

    Today is dedicated to muck diving along the black sand slopes of Batanta Island. Keep your eyes peeled for rare and unusual macro subjects like ghost pipefish, frogfish, wonderpus, and other sought-after critters.

    Dive sites: Happy Ending, Algae Patch

  10. Day 10: Final Dives in the Strait

    Dampier Strait

    Enjoy two final morning dives at one more of the Dampier Strait's premier sites. In the afternoon, the vessel will start its cruise back towards Sorong, allowing time to wash gear and relax.

    Dive sites: Chicken Reef, Otdima's Reef

  11. Day 11: Disembarkation in Sorong

    Sorong

    After a final breakfast on board, it's time to say goodbye to the crew. You will be transferred to the Sorong airport for your flight home or onward travel.
