About this route

The Misool archipelago in southern Raja Ampat presents a labyrinth of forest-covered limestone karst islands set in turquoise waters. Below the surface, divers encounter some of the world's most vibrant soft coral gardens, which thrive in the nutrient-rich currents. This region is famous for reliable manta ray cleaning stations like Magic Mountain, abundant schooling fish, and exceptional macro life, including various pygmy seahorse species. The remote and highly protected nature of Misool's marine park system contributes to its pristine condition and spectacular biodiversity.

Day-by-day plan

  1. Day 1: Embarkation in Sorong

Guests are welcomed aboard the Tiare. After boarding in Sorong harbor and attending the welcome briefing, a check dive is conducted in a sheltered bay before the overnight crossing to the Misool archipelago begins.

  2. Day 2: Daram Islands

The vessel arrives in the eastern Daram island group, known for its dramatic topography and vibrant reefs. Dives at sites like Andiamo, Tank Rock, and Wedding Cake reveal submarine ridges blanketed in a kaleidoscope of soft corals and sea fans.

  3. Day 3: Fiabacet & Whale Rock

The vessel moves to the central Fiabacet chain, where a series of submerged pinnacles are explored. Divers explore Whale Rock and Nudi Rock, searching for pygmy seahorses on gorgonian fans and navigating through masses of schooling fish.

  4. Day 4: Magic Mountain & Boo Windows

This day features Misool's most iconic sites. Guests visit Magic Mountain, a famous cleaning station for both oceanic and reef mantas, followed by dives at Shadow Reef and the unforgettable Boo Windows, named for its two swim-through holes.

  5. Day 5: Wayilbatan Exploration

Guests explore the scenic channels of Wayilbatan, diving a spectacular wall that lines the narrow passage. The day's dives focus on the unique topography and rich marine life fostered by the currents in this beautiful area.

  6. Day 6: Farondi's Caves & Kalig Reef

The journey continues to the Farondi region, characterized by its tunnels and caverns. Sites with dramatic geology and light effects are explored, then the beautiful Kalig Reef, another site known for its rich fish life, may be visited.

  7. Day 7: Revisiting Central Misool

Based on conditions and guest preferences, the vessel returns to favorite sites in central Misool such as Fiabacet or Wayilbatan, allowing for a deeper exploration of these reefs and another chance at manta encounters.

  8. Day 8: Northern Misool

Divers explore sites in the northern part of Misool before the journey back toward Sorong slowly begins. Reefs in this transition zone offer healthy hard coral cover and abundant reef fish populations.

  9. Day 9: Final Dives en route to Sorong

The final two dives take place at sites along the route back to Sorong, providing a last opportunity to enjoy Raja Ampat's underwater world before the obligatory 24-hour no-fly surface interval begins.

  10. Day 10: Disembarkation in Sorong

After breakfast, the vessel arrives in Sorong harbor and guests disembark, with transfers arranged to the airport for onward flights.
