This 9-day liveaboard journey aboard the Calico Jack explores the northern wonders of Raja Ampat, focusing on the breathtaking Wayag archipelago. Guests will encounter diverse marine life, vibrant coral gardens, and dramatic underwater topography. The itinerary includes opportunities for panoramic hikes and cultural visits, beginning and concluding in Sorong, West Papua.

Day-by-day plan

  1. Day 1: Embarkation in Sorong – Navigation to Waisai

    Guests are picked up from their hotel or Sorong airport and welcomed aboard the Calico Jack. Following a safety briefing, the vessel will depart for a journey north towards Waisai. The night will be spent at a safe anchorage near Mioskon dive site, offering a chance for an optional night dive.

  2. Day 2: Dampier Strait – Fish Schools and Jetty Dive

    The day begins with dives in the Dampier Strait, renowned for its incredible diversity of fish species and vibrant soft corals. Sites like Mioskon and Sardine Reef are known for schooling fish. Cape Kri often features large concentrations of fish, making it a highlight. The day concludes with a night dive at Yenbuba Jetty, offering opportunities to observe diverse nocturnal reef life.

  3. Day 3: Arborek Island – Manta Sandy and Village Visit

    Today's diving centers around Arborek Island. Manta Sandy is a well-known cleaning station where reef manta rays are frequently observed. Cape Yenbuba offers vibrant reef diving. A visit to a local village provides cultural insight before an evening night dive at Arborek Pier, which is famed for its abundant reef creatures and colorful corals.

  4. Day 4: Penemu Archipelago – Lagoon Exploration

    Morning dives include My Reef, known for strong currents and large fish concentrations, and Melissa's Garden, a vibrant coral garden teeming with reef fish and sharks. After diving, guests will embark on a boat tour to explore the Penemu Islands and hike to a scenic viewpoint overlooking the iconic star-shaped lagoons.

  5. Day 5: Aljui Bay – Macro and Pristine Reefs

    Today's dives are conducted in Aljui Bay, which is recognized for its pristine reefs and diverse marine life. 5, White Arrow, and Channel Island feature rich soft corals, sea fans, and various nudibranchs. Perennial Pier is also known for its excellent night diving opportunities in the Raja Ampat region.

  6. Day 6: Wofo Island – Beach BBQ

    The day's diving around Wofo Island includes sites like Wofo's Black Forest, a stunning dive through a dark canal landscape, and Wofo Tembok, a challenging wall dive. Teman Wofo provides another unique underwater experience. The evening culminates in a festive beach BBQ party on a secluded beach, complete with music and fireworks under the night sky.

  7. Day 7: Yanggefo – High Voltage Diving

    An early morning navigation leads to the stunning Mangrove Anchorage in the passage of Gam and Yanggefo. Dive sites such as Mayhem and Citrus Ridge offer exciting encounters with various pelagic species and abundant reef life.

  8. Day 8: Dampier Strait – Final Dives and Beach Relaxation

    For the final diving day, the itinerary revisits the Dampier Strait, featuring sites like Blue Magic and Sardine Reef. These sites are celebrated for their significant concentrations of large fish and vibrant reef ecosystems, including occasional manta ray sightings at Blue Magic. Depending on flight schedules, there may be an opportunity to relax on a secluded beach before navigating back to Sorong for a late evening arrival.

  9. Day 9: Disembarkation in Sorong

    After a final breakfast on board, guests will disembark the Calico Jack and be transferred to their hotel or Sorong airport, concluding this memorable Raja Ampat adventure.
