WRECKS AND UNDERWATER SITES This itinerary includes wrecks, coral reefs, and drop-offs. The route travels to the tip of Sinai before heading to the Brothers Islands, known for their drop-offs, strong currents, and encounters with large pelagics like hammerhead sharks and grey reef sharks. This itinerary is suitable for experienced divers, combining diverse marine life, wrecks, and reefs. Main dive sites 1- Sha’ab el Erg Level : Easy • Depth : 15m • Photo : Wide A horseshoe-shaped reef where dolphin schools frequently pass along the outer reef or in the lagoon. This site is the location for the check dive. Dolphins are observed during diving or snorkeling. 2- DUNRAVEN (SHIPWRECK) Level : Easy • Depth : 30m • Photo : Wide An 80-meter-long British ship that sank in 1876 after hitting a reef near Sha’ab Mahmoud. The wreck rests at a depth of 30 meters, split into two parts, with its inverted hull covered in corals. Divers explore its open holds, which are home to schools of surgeonfish, soldierfish, and moray eels. 3- Ras mohamed Level : Fac./Moy. • Depth : 40m • Photo : Macro/Wide A natural reserve at the southern tip of Sinai, marking the separation between the Gulf of Aqaba and the Gulf of Suez. The meeting of water masses from the two gulfs creates strong currents. Numerous pelagic species are present on the drop-offs (schools of barracudas, snappers, etc.). The dive takes place at the southernmost point: «Shark Reef» and «Yolanda Reef». The dive is a drift dive. Divers immerse at «Shark Reef», with its steep wall descending to -800m. Divers follow this vertical drop-off before ascending to the plateau toward «Yolanda Reef». Coral formations are covered with soft corals and gorgonians. The area is inhabited by giant moray eels, napoleon wrasses, turtles, groupers, and a large school of batfish. The dive ends on the remains of a Cypriot shipwreck that ran aground in 1980, giving the site its name (Yolanda). Only part of the cargo and debris remains, as the wreck slid further down the slope. The Yolanda transported bathroom fixtures; bathtubs and other sanitary items colonized by marine life are visible. 4/5- Thistlegorm Level : Medium • Depth : 30m • Photo : Wide An English cargo ship that sank on October 6, 1941, after being bombed by German aviation while carrying ammunition and war supplies (trucks, cars, motorcycles, etc.). Divers explore these artifacts, which remain preserved inside the wreck. It is a well-known wreck site. 6- GUBAL ISLAND Level : Easy • Depth : 30m • Photo : Wide The shallow reefs provide good visibility and host diverse marine life. Divers observe schools of fish, butterflyfish, parrotfish, along with moray eels and rays. Coral formations include a variety of soft and hard corals. A dive on the wreck of the Ulysses may be possible, depending on weather conditions. 7- Le Carnatic (SHIPWRECK) Level : Easy • Depth : 20m • Photo : Macro / Wide A 90-meter-long steamship, weighing 1,800 tons, that sank on this reef in 1869. It lies at depths of 18 to 24 meters. Its cargo of 32,000 pounds sterling in gold bullion was recovered, but 8,000 are reported missing. The hull is covered with hard corals, multicolored soft corals, and sponges. Inside, large numbers of «glassfish» are present with lionfish. 8- Le Ghiannis D (SHIPWRECK) Level : Easy • Depth : 20m • Photo : Macro / Wide A 100-meter-long cargo ship, weighing 2,900 tons, that sank in 1983. It transported timber from Croatia to Yemen. BROTHERS Big Brother and Little Brother, the «Two Brothers,» are two remote islands in the open sea, located off the coast of El Quseir. They are accessible only by liveaboard diving cruises. Separated by 800 meters, these islands are the emergent peaks of two underwater mountains plunging to depths of over 300 meters. They are frequently subjected to strong winds and powerful currents. Diving at the Brothers Islands is reserved for experienced divers. The sites feature gorgonian forests and coral formations that attract pelagic marine life. Divers explore drop-offs, caves, and the wrecks of the Aida and Numidia. 9/10- The South Plateau of Big Brother Level : Med./Adv. • Depth : 40m • Photo : Macro / Wide The south plateau of Big Brother is a geological formation located between 20 and 40 meters deep, serving as a location for observing pelagic life. Characterized by vertical walls covered in soft corals and gorgonians, this site is a gathering point for large predators. Experienced divers may observe: • Grey reef sharks • Oceanic whitetip sharks (longimanus) • Tuna and barracudas • Eagle rays The currents can be strong, requiring advanced technical skills and air management. The plateau offers several dive options depending on conditions. Early morning dives are scheduled to increase chances of pelagic encounters. This dive is reserved for Level 3 divers or equivalent, with experience in offshore conditions and strong currents. 11- The NORTH Plateau of Big Brother Level : Med./Adv. • Depth : 40m • Photo : Macro / Wide Divers descend to 35-40 meters above the north plateau, a location to observe grey reef sharks and hammerheads. It is possible to encounter a manta ray or a sunfish (Mola mola). After exploring the plateau and deeper zones, divers follow the current to the western drop-off. This area features soft corals, gorgonians, and diverse fauna, including groupers and barracudas. This islet offers the opportunity to see a variety of shark species: grey reef sharks, whitetip reef sharks, silky sharks, hammerheads, thresher sharks, and the oceanic whitetip shark near the surface. 12 – ABU KIFAN NORTH Level: Intermediate • Depth: 30m • Photo: WA Abu Kifan is located offshore from Safaga. The reef combines a plateau at 20 metres with a drop-off plunging beyond 100 metres. It is known for its corals and marine life, including pelagic species such as barracudas, tunas and, at times, hammerhead sharks. Currents can be strong, requiring diving experience. The site is accessible only by boat and offers good visibility for experienced divers. 13 – PANORAMA REEF NORTH Level: Intermediate • Depth: 20m • Photo: WA Panorama Reef North is located off Safaga. This current-exposed area attracts marine life. The steep wall drops vertically and is covered with hard corals, sponges and gorgonians. The site provides an open-ocean atmosphere with good visibility. It is suitable for experienced divers. The site features strong currents, varied topography, and a diverse ecosystem. 14 – PANORAMA REEF SOUTH Level: Intermediate • Depth: 20m • Photo: WA Panorama Reef South offers a dive with generally calm conditions. Its gently sloping plateau has soft and hard corals and shelters marine life: butterflyfish, angelfish, wrasses and turtles are frequently encountered. The natural light and visibility are suitable for underwater photography. The site is suitable for all levels and combines accessibility and diversity. 15 – TOBIA Level: Intermediate • Depth: 20m • Photo: WA Tobia is a cluster of small reefs, also known as the “Seven Pinnacles.” It is made up of coral towers separated by sandy corridors. This shallow site is suitable for divers of all levels and contains marine life: butterflyfish, clownfish, moray eels and rays thrive in clear water. The site is suitable for photography due to its colors and calm surroundings. 16 – RAS ABU SOMA Level: Intermediate • Depth: 20m • Photo: WA Ras Abu Soma is located south of Hurghada near Safaga. It is known for its diverse underwater landscapes and biodiversity. The reef features a mix of drop-offs, plateaus and coral gardens. Divers can observe a variety of tropical fish, soft and hard corals, and natural formations. Conditions are often calm, making the site suitable for all levels.

These five days are dedicated to exploring the highlights of this classic route. The itinerary includes dives at the world-renowned Brother Islands, known for their strong currents, pristine corals, and encounters with large pelagic species. The trip also covers famous northern sites such as the Ras Mohammed marine park and may include dives on iconic wrecks like the Thistlegorm.

Following a final breakfast on the liveaboard, guests will pack their belongings and check out. You will then be transferred from the marina for your onward travel arrangements.
