Male, Kaafu Atoll
Upon arrival at Velana International Airport (MLE), you will be greeted and transferred to the vessel. After settling into your cabin, you'll receive a comprehensive boat and safety briefing before enjoying dinner as the journey begins.
Good to know: A minimum of 50 logged dives is recommended for this itinerary. No diving takes place on the day of arrival.
North Male Atoll
The day begins with a check-dive to ensure all divers are comfortable and equipment is in order. Subsequent dives will explore the renowned sites of North Male Atoll, which is celebrated for its manta ray cleaning stations and colorful reef life.
Dive sites: Lankan Manta Point
Rasdhoo Atoll
An early morning dive offers the chance to spot schools of scalloped hammerhead sharks in the deep blue. The day's diving continues around this small atoll, known for its healthy reefs and strong currents that attract abundant pelagic species.
Dive sites: Rasdhoo Madivaru, Kuramathi Kandu
Good to know: Hammerhead sightings are a possibility but never guaranteed.
North Ari Atoll
The journey continues into North Ari Atoll, home to some of the Maldives' most famous dive sites. Dives will focus on submerged pinnacles, or 'Thilas', such as the premier Maaya Thila, which bustle with fish, sharks, and rays, especially after dusk.
Dive sites: Maaya Thila, Fish Head (Mushimasmingili Thila)
Central Ari Atoll
Today is dedicated to seeking out majestic manta rays at their cleaning stations. The vessel will travel to sites like Donkalo Thila, where divers can often observe these gentle giants as they hover over the reef to be cleaned by smaller fish.
Dive sites: Donkalo Thila, Moofushi Manta Point
South Ari Atoll
The boat heads to the southern edge of Ari Atoll, an area globally recognized for year-round whale shark sightings. Dives will take place along the outer reef, offering the chance to encounter the largest fish in the sea, alongside beautiful coral gardens.
Dive sites: Maamigili Beyru
Good to know: Whale shark encounters are common but not guaranteed. Dives may be substituted with nearby 'Thilas'.
South Ari Atoll / Faafu Atoll
Enjoy one or two final dives within Ari Atoll, exploring a vibrant pinnacle or channel. Afterwards, the vessel begins its eastbound crossing towards the Vaavu Atoll, offering a relaxing afternoon cruise across the open ocean.
Vaavu Atoll
Experience the adrenaline of Vaavu's channel dives, where grey reef sharks, eagle rays, and schools of jacks congregate in the currents. The day culminates in a spectacular night dive at Alimatha Jetty, famous for its large population of resident nurse sharks.
Dive sites: Miyaru Kandu, Alimatha Jetty
Good to know: The Alimatha Jetty night dive is a highlight of this itinerary.
South Male Atoll
The boat navigates north from Vaavu to enter South Male Atoll. Dives here often center on the exciting kandus (channels) that cut through the atoll's eastern rim, where divers can drift with the current and watch for sharks and eagle rays.
Dive sites: Guraidhoo Kandu
South Male Atoll
A day exploring the diverse underwater landscape of South Male Atoll. Dives may include a purpose-sunk shipwreck like the Kuda Giri, now a thriving artificial reef, as well as a visit to Kandooma Thila, known for its big schools of fish.
Dive sites: Kuda Giri Wreck, Kandooma Thila
North Male Atoll
The final two dives of the trip will take place at sites conveniently close to the disembarkation point. This allows for a relaxed pace and plenty of time in the afternoon to wash and dry equipment before the farewell dinner.
Dive sites: Banana Reef, Kurumba House Reef
Good to know: Final dives are planned to allow for a safe 24-hour no-fly period before departure.
Male, Kaafu Atoll
After a final breakfast on board, it's time to say goodbye to the crew and fellow divers. You will be transferred back to Velana International Airport (MLE) for your journey home.
