Lady Denok · Indonesia · 9 Days / 8 Nights
A journey of contrasts, this itinerary combines the bizarre and wonderful macro world of the Lembeh Strait with the vibrant, seldom-dived reefs of Halmahera. This trip offers the best of both worlds, from critter hunting in black sand to exploring pristine coral gardens farther east.
Bitung, North Sulawesi
Arrive and board the Lady Denok in the port of Bitung. After the welcome briefing, you'll have an opportunity for an afternoon or evening check dive in the incredible Lembeh Strait, the muck diving capital of the world.
Lembeh Strait
Spend a full day exploring Lembeh's famous black sand slopes with your expert guide. Search for a host of rare and unusual critters, such as mimic octopus, hairy frogfish, flamboyant cuttlefish, and a dazzling variety of nudibranchs. The vessel sails for Halmahera overnight.
Southwest Halmahera
Wake up to the remote and beautiful islands of Halmahera. The diving here is a world away from Lembeh, featuring clear water, vibrant coral gardens, and healthy fish populations. Enjoy several dives exploring this pristine environment.
Central Halmahera
Continue exploring the varied underwater landscapes of Halmahera. Dives may include exhilarating drifts along current-swept points, exploring pinnacles covered in life, or relaxing on stunning hard coral reefs. The area is rich in both wide-angle and macro subjects.
Halmahera
The volcanic nature of the region creates a dramatic underwater topography. Today's dives will focus on exploring these unique structures, from black sand slopes that attract special critters to offshore pinnacles that act as magnets for schooling fish.
North Halmahera
Venture to the more remote parts of the Halmahera archipelago. These reefs have seen very few divers, offering a true sense of exploration. Expect colorful walls, untouched corals, and a high diversity of reef fish.
Halmahera
Enjoy the final dives in the clear waters of Halmahera, taking in the beautiful coral reefs one last time. In the evening, the Lady Denok begins its overnight passage back west towards the Lembeh Strait.
Lembeh Strait
Arrive back in the Lembeh Strait for two final dives. This is your last chance to find any rare critters you might have missed at the beginning of the trip, or to revisit a favorite site. The boat will dock in Bitung harbor in the evening.
Bitung, North Sulawesi
After a final breakfast on board, say goodbye to the crew and fellow passengers. You will be transferred to Sam Ratulangi Airport (MDC) in Manado for your journey home.
