Explore the renowned waters of Indonesia, where the currents of the Flores Sea converge to create an exceptionally biodiverse marine ecosystem. This eight-day journey focuses on the Komodo National Park, offering a mix of vibrant coral reefs, dramatic pinnacles, and channels teeming with pelagic life. Divers can anticipate encountering manta rays, reef sharks, and an array of colorful smaller reef dwellers, with potential strong currents in some areas enhancing the drift diving experience. A highlight includes chances to observe the iconic Komodo dragons onshore. This itinerary provides a comprehensive exploration of the central and southern areas of the park, suitable for experienced divers.

Day-by-day plan

  1. Day 1: Embarkation in Labuan Bajo

    Labuan Bajo

    After being transferred from the airport or a local hotel, you will board the vessel for a welcome briefing. Once settled in, the boat departs for a short cruise to the protected bay of Bidari Island to anchor for the night.

    Good to know: No diving is scheduled on the first day to allow for travel and settling in.

  2. Day 2: Dolphins and Drifts in Central Komodo

    Central Komodo

    The day begins with a check-out dive at Sebayur to fine-tune buoyancy amidst its beautiful coral gardens. Subsequent dives explore the currents of Golden Passage and the vibrant slopes of Tatawa Besar, which may offer a chance encounter with dolphins.

    Dive sites: Sebayur, Tatawa Besar, Golden Passage

  3. Day 3: Searching for Manta Rays

    Central Komodo

    The day's dives focus on the renowned cleaning stations and feeding grounds frequented by majestic manta rays. The itinerary targets key sites in the central park area where these gentle giants are commonly spotted gliding over the reef.

    Good to know: Dive sites are selected based on current conditions and recent manta sightings.

  4. Day 4: Big Fish Action in the North

    North Komodo

    The journey heads north to experience the thrilling currents that attract large schools of fish and pelagic predators. The dives in this area are known for a high chance of spotting sharks and other big fish in the open blue.

  5. Day 5: Exploring Northern Pinnacles

    North Komodo

    A second day is spent exploring the world-class sites of North Komodo. Dives focus on underwater pinnacles and seamounts that are covered in vibrant corals and teeming with diverse fish life.

  6. Day 6: Dragons and South Komodo Critters

    South Komodo / Rinca Island

    The boat moves south for a change of scenery both above and below the water. The day includes a land excursion to see the famous Komodo dragons in their natural habitat, complemented by dives in the cooler, nutrient-rich southern waters.

    Good to know: Fewer dives are scheduled to accommodate the land-based trekking excursion.

  7. Day 7: Last Dives and Return Cruise

    Central Komodo

    The final two dives of the trip take place in the morning at sites in the central park area. In the afternoon, the vessel begins its scenic cruise back towards the main port of Labuan Bajo.

    Good to know: The afternoon is spent cruising back to port to prepare for disembarkation.

  8. Day 8: Farewell and Disembarkation

    Labuan Bajo

    After breakfast, guests disembark in Labuan Bajo. Transfers continue according to the onward travel arrangements.
