Amira · Indonesia · Crossing of the Banda Sea
A blue-water crossing of the Banda Sea linking Alor / Maumere with Ambon or western Papua. The route runs past the volcanic seamounts of Gunung Api (famous for thousands of resident sea snakes), the spice-trade islands of the Banda archipelago (Banda Neira, Hatta, Ai) with their pristine hard-coral walls and hammerhead encounters, and finishes with the muck slopes of Ambon Bay (rhinopias, frogfish, mimic octopus). Hammerhead schools, sea snakes, schooling barracuda and exceptional macro. The operator does not publish a fixed day-by-day schedule; sites are chosen each morning based on conditions. Nitrox available.
