For wide-angle shots, consider using early morning light on vertical walls at sites like Half Moon Caye and Lighthouse Reef. For deeper areas, strobes are essential to bring out color and detail. Macro enthusiasts will find subjects year-round, particularly in the shallow patch reefs and mangrove edges of Turneffe Atoll. A 60mm or 105mm lens is recommended for capturing small reef creatures such as seahorses, blennies, and nudibranchs. Night dives are also productive for macro, revealing octopuses, lobsters, and sleeping parrotfish.
