The white-tailed eagle is one of Eurasia's largest raptors, with broad wings, a heavy bill and a short, wedge-shaped tail. Adults develop the white tail that gives the species its name, while younger birds remain darker and more mottled. Norway supports a substantial population, and reintroduction restored the species to Scotland after historical persecution. Coastal territories can offer impressive distant views, but nest disturbance and illegal killing remain important regional concerns.

Danube
Austrian records refer to Donau-Auen between Vienna and Hainburg, often requiring a floodplain walk. Pelicans and many wetland birds refer specifically to the separate Danube Delta itinerary. They are not promised on Passau–Budapest cruises.
