Whitetip Reef Shark

The whitetip reef shark is one of the most commonly encountered sharks on Indo-Pacific coral reefs. Unlike most sharks that must swim to breathe, whitetips can pump water over their gills while resting, allowing them to lie motionless in caves and under ledges for hours. They are most active at night when they become voracious pack hunters.

Dyktips

During the day, check under ledges and inside caves—whitetips often rest in groups. Night dives reveal their true hunting behaviour as packs chase fish through the reef. They are generally docile around divers but can become excited during night hunts.
