Leopard Shark

The Leopard Shark, also known as the Zebra Shark, is one of the most photogenic sharks in tropical waters. Adults display a stunning pattern of dark spots on a pale body, while juveniles have striking zebra-like stripes — hence the alternative name. These docile, bottom-dwelling sharks are often found resting on sandy bottoms near coral reefs during the day, becoming active hunters at night. Their calm temperament and approachable nature make them a favourite among divers and underwater photographers throughout Southeast Asia.

Dyktips

Look for them resting on sandy patches between coral formations during the day. Approach slowly along the seabed and avoid hovering directly above them. Early morning dives offer the best chances as they settle into resting spots. Keep a respectful distance and they will often remain still for extended observation.
