Napoleon Wrasse (Humphead Wrasse)

The Napoleon wrasse, also known as the humphead wrasse, is the largest member of the wrasse family and one of the most charismatic fish on coral reefs. Named for the prominent bump on the head of adult males (resembling Napoleon's hat), these magnificent fish can live for over 30 years and are a prized sighting on any dive.

Dyktips

Napoleon wrasses in marine reserves are often incredibly curious and may approach divers closely. They are intelligent and seem to enjoy interacting with humans. Look for them patrolling reef slopes and drop-offs in the morning. At some sites, resident individuals are known by name.
