Wobbegong Shark

The wobbegong is a master of disguise among sharks, with its flattened body and elaborate skin appendages that perfectly mimic rocky, algae-covered seafloor. Found exclusively in the Indo-Pacific, these ambush predators lie motionless for hours, striking prey with lightning speed when it ventures too close. Raja Ampat and Komodo are world-class destinations for encounters with the ornate wobbegong.

Dykketips

Look carefully on reef ledges, under tables corals, and in swim-throughs. Their camouflage is extraordinarily good. Never place hands under reef ledges without looking first—wobbegongs have been known to bite when surprised.
