About Pacific Master

The Pacific Master explores the Solomon Islands' diverse marine ecosystems, offering access to coral reefs, historical wrecks, and abundant marine life.

The Solomon Islands are a nation shaped by intersecting forces—powerful tectonic activity and the naval conflicts of the Second World War. This dual history is written into the underwater landscape, where volcanic islands drop into deep channels and historic wrecks rest alongside vibrant coral gardens. These waters, fed by rich oceanic currents, support a complete marine food web, from schools of fusiliers and anthias blanketing the reef tops to cruising sharks and rays in the blue. Caverns, walls, and coral-encrusted bommies host an incredible density of macro subjects. It is within this complex environment of reef and ruin that the 30-meter Pacific Master operates, a purpose-built vessel designed for comprehensive exploration of the archipelago. Diving is conducted from two fast tenders, ensuring divers are delivered directly to the optimal entry points for each site. The main vessel’s dive deck is arranged for efficiency and comfort, providing individual gear stations for all guests and ample storage to keep the area organized. A dedicated camera station with rinse tanks and air guns caters to underwater photographers, offering a secure space for equipment preparation and maintenance. An experienced local crew guides every dive, sharing their deep knowledge of the region’s complex reef systems and the precise locations of significant wartime wrecks. Their expertise is essential for navigating the passages and identifying the unique marine life that defines each location. Between dives, life aboard is designed for relaxation and social engagement. The vessel accommodates up to 20 guests in nine air-conditioned cabins, available in a variety of configurations including twin, double, and single-occupancy layouts. These private spaces offer a comfortable retreat after a full day in the water. Communal areas include a spacious interior salon, where guests can gather for meals, dive briefings, or to review the day's photography. Above, a generous sundeck provides open-air seating and loungers, creating the perfect spot to enjoy the sea breeze and the dramatic island scenery of the Solomons. The culinary program on the Pacific Master is centered around fresh, wholesome meals that provide plenty of energy for diving. The onboard chef prepares a varied menu of international and local dishes, served buffet-style in the main dining salon. This communal dining approach encourages conversation and a friendly group atmosphere. A selection of snacks, fruit, coffee, tea, and drinking water are available throughout the day to keep divers hydrated and satisfied between meals. The crew can accommodate most special dietary needs, though it is important to provide this information in advance of your trip. Built in 2004 and significantly updated during a 2016 refurbishment, the Pacific Master is a modern and capable exploration platform. This steel-hulled motor yacht measures 30 meters in length with a 7.9-meter beam, providing a stable and spacious environment for its 20 passengers. Power is supplied by a robust 1800HP v12 engine, enabling a cruising speed of 10 knots and facilitating efficient travel between the widespread islands of the archipelago. The vessel's solid construction and powerful propulsion system contribute to passenger comfort during open-water crossings, reducing transit times and maximizing time spent diving at remote and otherwise inaccessible sites. Pacific Master operates a range of itineraries throughout the Solomon Islands, typically departing from and returning to Honiara. These voyages explore the renowned dive sites of the Florida and Russell Islands, famous for their WWII wrecks and dramatic reef topography. Other routes venture to more distant provinces, offering a true sense of exploration. The primary dive season runs from April through November, taking advantage of calmer surface conditions. This liveaboard is ideally suited for the certified, experienced diver with an interest in underwater history and marine biology. It appeals to photographers, wreck enthusiasts, and anyone seeking to explore a less-trafficked corner of the Coral Triangle, far from day boats and coastal resorts.
