Manta Queen 1

About Manta Queen 1

The Manta Queen 1 navigates Thailand's Andaman Sea, offering access to its diverse marine ecosystems and celebrated dive locations.

A seasonal pulse, driven by reversing monsoons, governs the marine environment of Thailand's Andaman Sea. This annual rhythm flushes the waters, delivering nutrients that sustain a complex food web from tiny reef fish to whale sharks. This dynamic process gives rise to world-renowned locations like the Similan Islands, known for their massive granite formations, and Richelieu Rock, an isolated pinnacle that acts as a magnet for pelagic species. Operating within this region of high biological activity, the Manta Queen 1 provides a dedicated and functional platform for divers. The vessel is designed to navigate these waters, offering extended itineraries that allow for a thorough exploration of the area's most significant underwater sites. The diving program is organized for efficiency and accessibility. A single, capable tender powered by a 40 HP Yamaha engine transports divers directly to the action, enabling precise drop-offs and convenient pick-ups at each location. The main vessel features a well-arranged dive deck, providing individual stations for gear setup and storage, ensuring that equipment is organized and ready for every immersion. All dives are conducted under the supervision of an experienced team of guides who possess deep knowledge of the local sites, currents, and marine life. Their primary role is to ensure diver safety while pointing out the unique creatures and topographical features that define each dive. Life aboard is structured around comfort and community between dives. The vessel accommodates up to 20 guests across 10 cabins, with options to suit different preferences and budgets. These include Double En-suite Cabins, Twin Bunk En-suite Cabins, and Twin Bunk Cabins on the lower deck that utilize shared facilities. With a total of eight bathrooms on board, waiting times are minimized. For relaxation, guests can gather in the air-conditioned indoor saloon, a comfortable space for sharing photos, reading, or simply unwinding. An expansive, open-air sundeck offers an alternative place to socialize and enjoy the sea air and coastal scenery. WiFi is also available for guests to stay connected. Onboard culinary service is a central part of the daily routine, designed to keep divers fueled for their active schedules. The galley team prepares a variety of meals throughout the day, served in a casual, buffet-style format that allows for flexible dining. The menu is composed of freshly prepared dishes, with snacks and fruit available between meals to maintain energy levels. A selection of soft drinks, tea, and coffee is always accessible. The kitchen is able to accommodate most special dietary requirements, provided that the crew is informed in advance of the trip, ensuring all guests are well-catered for during their time at sea. The Manta Queen 1 is a 27-meter motor vessel with a beam of 6 meters, providing a stable and seaworthy base for multi-day excursions. Having been recently renovated, its systems and guest areas are modern and well-maintained. Propulsion is supplied by a pair of reliable Hino 450HP 10-cylinder engines, which enable a consistent cruising speed of 8 to 9 knots. This power and speed combination allows the ship to complete passages between island groups and distant pinnacles efficiently, maximizing time spent over the dive sites. The vessel’s robust construction makes it well-suited for the open-water conditions often encountered in the Andaman Sea. This liveaboard primarily runs itineraries focused on the premier dive destinations of Thailand’s west coast, including comprehensive tours of the Similan Islands and the famous Richelieu Rock. These trips are scheduled during the region’s main diving season, which typically runs from November through early May. Journeys usually begin and end at the port of Tap Lamu, a convenient access point for this area of the Andaman Sea. The Manta Queen 1 is an excellent choice for the dedicated diver who prioritizes time in the water and values a social, functional, and organized liveaboard experience over pure luxury. It is ideal for those looking to explore Thailand’s most celebrated underwater environments in a friendly and efficient setting.
