Emperor Voyager

About Emperor Voyager

The Emperor Voyager is a 29.9-meter Maldivian liveaboard, accommodating 20 guests for diving within the archipelago's diverse marine ecosystems.

The Maldivian archipelago is a system of submerged volcanic mountains capped by coral, forming a series of atolls that rise from the Indian Ocean floor. This geography creates a unique underwater environment where oceanic currents are funneled through deep channels, or *kandus*, delivering nutrient-rich water to the inner lagoons and outer reefs. This process supports dense aggregations of marine life, from massive schools of fish to large pelagic species like sharks and manta rays that feed in the currents. The Emperor Voyager is engineered to navigate these waters, offering a stable and functional base from which to explore the archipelago’s dynamic submarine landscapes. All diving activities are conducted from a large, dedicated dhoni that accompanies the main vessel. This traditional Maldivian boat serves as a fully equipped dive tender, housing compressors and all guest gear, which keeps the living areas on Emperor Voyager quiet and dry. Divers have ample space for setup and storage, and the dhoni’s design allows for direct and easy access to the top dive sites. A dedicated camera workbench is available for photographers to manage their equipment. Dive guides with extensive local knowledge lead all excursions, ensuring that each dive is optimized for the prevailing conditions and potential marine life encounters. Accommodation for 20 guests is spread across ten cabins on three decks, offering a variety of configurations. The upper deck features cabins with twin beds that can be converted to doubles, while the main deck offers a twin cabin. The lower deck provides both double bed cabins and twin cabins that can also be adapted to doubles. Each stateroom is equipped with individual air conditioning and a fan for personalized comfort. Social life on board is split between an air-conditioned indoor lounge with an entertainment system and a selection of books and media, and several outdoor areas. Guests can gather in the shaded outdoor relaxation space or ascend to the upper deck solarium, complete with hammocks for open-air lounging. The onboard chef prepares a varied menu, blending international dishes with local Maldivian flavors. Meals are typically served in a communal setting, often on the exterior deck where diners can enjoy the surrounding sea views. The cuisine is prepared with fresh ingredients, providing the energy needed for a full day of diving. Special dietary requirements can be accommodated with advance notice. A selection of beverages is available to complement the meals and for guests to enjoy during their leisure time on board. The Emperor Voyager is a 29.9-meter motor yacht with a generous 9.1-meter beam, a design feature that provides significant stability both at anchor and during crossings between atolls. Constructed in 2004 and last updated in 2014, the vessel is well-maintained for its role in the region. It accommodates a maximum of 20 guests, ensuring a good ratio of space to passengers. Power is supplied by a reliable 360 Hp Doosan Daewoo engine, which also runs the onboard systems and amenities. This combination of a wide hull and dependable engineering makes the vessel a comfortable and practical platform for multi-day dive expeditions across the archipelago. Emperor Voyager operates year-round, running classic Maldivian itineraries that focus on the central atolls. These routes, often titled "Best of Maldives," are designed to showcase the region’s signature dive sites, including channel dives, thilas, and manta cleaning stations. Journeys typically begin and end in Malé, providing convenient access for international travelers. The vessel is well-suited for divers who want a comprehensive Maldivian experience on a functional and comfortable boat. With its dedicated camera facilities, it is also a strong choice for underwater photographers. The presence of a separate dhoni makes it a good option for those who appreciate a quiet and organized main vessel.
