Blue Lotus

About Blue Lotus

Komodo National Park, a region where two oceans converge, offers a biologically rich marine environment explored aboard the Blue Lotus.

The convergence of the Indian and Pacific Oceans is the engine driving Komodo's exceptional marine biology. This powerful exchange of water creates nutrient-rich upwellings that sustain a food web of immense scale and density. The result is an underwater landscape of sharp contrasts, from current-swept channels patrolled by sharks and manta rays to sheltered bays filled with vibrant soft coral gardens. The Blue Lotus is designed specifically to navigate these dynamic waters, positioning divers directly in the heart of this activity for a focused exploration of the region's topographies. Dive logistics are organized for efficiency and direct site access. Two rigid tenders, powered by 20hp 4-stroke outboards, transport divers from the mothership to specific entry points, ensuring precise drops on pinnacles and channel walls. The main vessel includes a dedicated dive deck with ample room for gear preparation and individual storage stations. While onboard, guests benefit from the expertise of local guides who possess an intimate knowledge of the region's currents, tides, and marine life behavior, leading small groups to maximize safety and underwater encounters. The vessel accommodates a small group of up to 12 guests, fostering a personal and relaxed atmosphere. Accommodations are spread across six private cabins, available in Master, Standard Double, and Standard Twin configurations to suit different group arrangements. Each stateroom includes its own en-suite bathroom, providing privacy and convenience. When not diving, guests can gather in the indoor air-conditioned lounge or relax on the open-air decks. The sundeck offers wide-angle views of the volcanic island scenery, serving as a social hub between dives and in the evenings. Onboard WiFi is available for staying connected. The onboard chef prepares a varied menu drawing from both Indonesian and international culinary traditions. Meals are served in a communal dining setting, offering a chance for guests to share the day's experiences. The galley focuses on fresh, locally sourced ingredients whenever possible. A selection of snacks, fruit, and hot beverages is also available throughout the day to keep divers energized. The crew can accommodate most special dietary requirements with advance notification, ensuring all guests are well-catered for during their journey. The Blue Lotus is a modern vessel, newly constructed in 2025 to meet contemporary maritime standards. It measures 32 meters in length with a 2.5-meter beam, providing a stable platform for navigating the archipelago. Power is supplied by a reliable Mitsubishi 8DC11 engine, maintaining a steady cruising speed of 6 to 7 knots for fuel-efficient and quiet passages between islands. As a new build, the ship's systems, from navigation to onboard utilities, are all state-of-the-art, contributing to the overall comfort and safety of multi-day expeditions in a remote region. Blue Lotus primarily operates within the Komodo National Park, with itineraries designed to showcase the region's full ecological variety. Trips typically depart from and return to Labuan Bajo, Flores, exploring a circuit of world-class sites from the current-swept channels in the north to the cooler, nutrient-dense waters of the south. The vessel runs charters throughout the year, adapting its route to the seasonal shifts that influence marine life aggregations. With its 12-guest capacity and focus on core dive operations, this liveaboard is well-suited for dedicated divers, small groups, and photographers who prefer an intimate setting and a direct, structured approach to exploring Komodo's powerful underwater environment.
