About Ariyal

The Ariyal offers access to the Maldivian atolls, providing a platform for exploring the region's diverse marine ecosystems.

The Maldivian atolls are not static islands but living reefs, constantly shaped by the powerful monsoonal currents that pulse through the Indian Ocean. This immense flow of water through deep channels, or 'kandus', concentrates nutrients and attracts an abundance of marine life. These conditions create world-renowned sites for encountering large pelagic species, including whale sharks, manta rays, and various sharks. Away from the high-energy channels, submerged pinnacles known as 'thilas' rise from the atoll floor, acting as cleaning stations and housing for vibrant reef fish communities. The Ariyal, a modern motor yacht, was specifically constructed to navigate these dynamic waters, providing a comfortable and reliable platform for exploring the region's rich marine biology. Dive operations are conducted from a large, dedicated dive tender that accompanies the main vessel. This system, common in the Maldives, keeps all wet gear and compressor noise separate, ensuring the mothership remains a quiet, dry space for relaxation. Divers gear up on the tender, which provides direct access to the best entry points at each site. All dives are led by experienced local guides who are experts in reading the currents and locating marine life. The tender is well-equipped with individual gear stations and camera rinse tanks. For certified divers, nitrox is available to extend bottom time on the lively reefs. Life aboard the Ariyal is organized for comfort and relaxation between dives. The vessel accommodates up to 26 guests in 13 air-conditioned cabins distributed across three decks. Cabins on the main and upper decks feature large windows with ocean views, while all cabins include a private en-suite bathroom with hot water showers. Social life is split between several areas. An indoor, air-conditioned salon serves as a dining room and lounge for briefings or movie nights. Outside, a shaded al-fresco area offers a place to relax with a book, while the spacious top deck is furnished with sun loungers for soaking up the equatorial sun or for nighttime stargazing. The onboard chef and galley crew manage a menu designed to fuel active divers. Meals are a mix of international and local Maldivian flavors, using fresh ingredients. Breakfast and lunch are typically served buffet-style, offering a wide variety of choices to suit different tastes. Dinner is a plated affair, providing a more relaxed dining experience at the end of the day. Throughout the day, complimentary snacks, fresh fruit, tea, and coffee are readily available. The crew can cater to specific dietary restrictions and allergies with advance notice. A bar service is also available for guests wishing to purchase soft drinks, beer, wine, or spirits. Launched in 2024, the Ariyal is a contemporary 45-meter steel-hulled vessel built for stability and space. Its 10-meter beam creates a wide, solid platform, minimizing roll and contributing to guest comfort during open-water crossings between atolls. A powerful 1000hp engine provides a cruising speed of 10 knots, allowing for efficient travel between dive sites across the archipelago. The vessel's modern construction and new systems ensure reliability and a high standard of safety. With just 13 cabins for a vessel of this size, the common areas and decks feel spacious and uncrowded. Ariyal operates year-round, following the classic Maldivian liveaboard routes through the Central Atolls. Trips generally begin and end in Malé, providing straightforward transfers from Velana International Airport. Itineraries are planned around the two monsoon seasons to maximize marine life encounters, whether it's manta rays at their cleaning stations or whale sharks feeding in plankton-rich waters. These trips are an excellent choice for certified divers who want to experience the Maldives' famous currents, channels, and pelagic action from a modern and comfortable home base. The boat is ideal for divers of intermediate experience and above who are comfortable with drift diving.
