The green anaconda is a large, nonvenomous boa native to tropical South America, including the Amazon Basin. It is generally considered the world's heaviest living snake, although the reticulated python grows longer. Females are considerably larger and heavier than males. Its powerful body and aquatic adaptations make it an effective ambush predator in rivers, wetlands, and flooded forests. Despite its fearsome reputation, it generally avoids people and is not known to routinely prey on humans.

These wetland birds are recorded on Peruvian Amazon river excursions. Flooded forests, lagoons and tributaries offer different habitats; routes and water levels affect access.
